“For most of the civilized world, the mention of Miami conjures images of beaches, supermodels, and Don Johnson snorting blow off of some brazilian's ass. Until 2003, that is, when word got out of strange experiments at a meth lab out in the swamplands of the Everglades. Witnesses reported seeing trucks arriving with loads of cadavers at all hours of the night, while hearing strains of Carl Perkins, Nekromantix, and Carcass played at the same time!
Sewn together from the handsomest corpses available on a tight budget and reanimated during a tropical storm, the Van Orsdel brothers descended upon the fledgling punk scene, bludgeoning victims with a vicious amalgamation of sounds ranging from charged rockabilly to balls-out thrash punk. Their debut EP "Ain't Life a Drag" was self-released in 2003 and later found its way to Crazy Love records, who then released the Van Orsdel boys' first full-length assault "Miami Morgue Riot" in 2005. A damning attack on bland punkabilly, Miami Morgue Riot thrashes with influences from early psycho to 80's punk and black metal. They're coming to your town, so just remember: if things get outta hand, a hard whack to the head seems to do the trick.”
Born from the ashes of South Florida’s one and only Misfits tribute band, the members of The Van Orsdels have held their own individually, and as a band, in the South Florida local music scene. In their time as a band, The Van Orsdels have accomplished quite a lot, garnering local and national attention, as well as a strong following. The have also been the opening act for The Independents and the Legendary Shack Shakers. The Van Orsdels have been featured in an article in The New Times, as well as other publications. They were requested to perform at the annual Atomic Rockabilly Rumble in Central Florida, as well as the Gold Coast Tattoo Expo in West Palm Beach as the opening act for punk band Murphy’s Law. The Van Orsdels have recently signed to German psychobilly label Crazy Love Records, and are getting ready to record their next cd entitled “Miami Morgue Riot” will will be released through Crazy Love in the summer of 2005. With a shared love for horror movies, b-movies, punk rock, psychobilly and all things scary, they decided to create their own brand of South Florida psychobilly. Combining elements of rockabilly, punk, death metal and good ‘ol fashioned rock and roll, we’re sure you’re gonna fall in love with The Van Orsdels...
